About this breakbeach · sand · faces SW

East end of the Long Beach Peninsula, behind the federal breakwater, which Wikipedia says reduces waves to 'lake-like lapping' along the city's beaches. In the NOAA geometry the breakwater and jetties cover every open-ocean direction, so surf only arrives by diffraction through gaps on strong south swells. Flat most of the year.
