About this breakpier · sand · faces WNW
Sand peaks beside the Scripps research pier, which is closed to the public, at the north end of La Jolla Shores. Point La Jolla blocks direct south swell, and the submarine canyon to the north shelters this area from long-period westerly swell. Keep clear of the pilings and research equipment.
